Statement by IHA President, Gary J. Fitzgerald, Regarding Enactment of the 2018-19 State Budget

“The Iroquois Healthcare Association (IHA) applauds Governor Cuomo and the Legislature for their dedication to healthcare made evident in the adopted 2018-19 state budget.

This budget agreement makes vital investments in healthcare delivery for Upstate New York’s hospitals and health systems through the statutory establishment of the enhanced safety net program, additional capital funding under the Healthcare Facility Transformation Program III, the creation of an alternative to opioids pilot project, and dedicated funding to close healthcare workforce shortage gaps in rural and underserved areas across Upstate New York.

We appreciate the Governor and state lawmakers for their continued support of Upstate New York’s hospitals which are undergoing constant transformation in order to provide the highest quality, affordable care to the people of our rural and urban communities alike.” – Gary J. Fitzgerald, President & CEO
